Free range rabbit, confied with rosemary, wrapped in brik, celeriac mousseline, tender leaves & truffle jus, paired with Doolhof single vineyard Malbec 2014. Ratings Meal 10/10 & Wine 8/10. Fantastic meal and wine paired really well, the tannin structure of the wine was softened really well by the rabbit and jus.
Mild Karoo cheeses beignet, burnt Aubergine, Huguenots fritter, charcoal mayo, cucumber, gomasio, coriander. Paired with Doolhof Lady in White 2010. Ratings Meal 8/10 and Wine 8/10. Much better pairing the body and hint of oak paired well the smokey character of meal.
10 minute cured and curried KingKlip, sautéed turnips & onion petals, thyme beurre blanc. Paired with Doolhof Unwooded Chardonnay 2015. Ratings Meal 9/10 & Wine 4/10. Again meal was amazing but wine was far to light and elegant. The wine is lost in the pairing.
Flash fried baby squid, cauliflower brandade, cauliflower & saffron pickle, squid ink aioli, curry oil, tender baby leaves and micro coriander. Pairing wine Doolhof Cape Crane Chenin Blanc 2015.
